Forms to Complete When Moving into (or out of) the City

When you move into Kawagoe City, you must bring your foreign resident registration card to city hall and complete registration procedures within 14 days of the day your move. You must come in person or a family member who belongs to the same household (*1) may register for you. Separate forms must be completed for the National Health Insurance Plan and the National Pension Plan. If you are moving out of Kawagoe, those who are members of National Health Insurance must return their health insurance card and those who have completed seal registration must return their Kawagoe Citizen's Card to city hall. Those who want to have their children attend a city elementary school must complete the appropriate forms for the Board of Education.

*1 “Family member who belongs to the same household” refers to the spouse (includes common-law spouse) or members within the sixth degree of blood relation or third degree of kinship by marriage, living with the applicant and sharing the same livelihood.

Electricity: Complete and mail the registration documents attached to the circuit breaker of your new home.
Gas: The gas company must open the main valve and conduct an inspection.
Water: Please contact the City Waterworks and Sewage Bureau.
Telephone: Apply for a telephone line by calling 116 (no area code is necessary).
Post Office: If you complete a change of address form at your local post office, your mail will be forwarded to your new address for one year.
Other procedures that need to be completed include changing your address for your driver’s license and your bank account.
