Autun City (Bourgogne, France)
Autun City is located about 300 kilometers southeast of Paris, with 18,000 people occupying 61.52 square kilometers. Originally built at the command of the Roman Emperor Augustus, the city has a history that reaches back 2,000 years. During the Roman age, it prospered as an important crossroads of travel, and also benefited from its status as Romes little sister. The area continues to retain vestiges of those ancient times to this day, including castle walls, the Saint-Andre Gate, an amphitheater and more. There are also many vintage historical structures still standing, among them the Saint Lazare Cathedral and the Lorrain Art Museum. In 1987, the community held the Autun City 2000 Festival celebration.
Autun is blessed with lush natural surroundings, and has
become well known for its farming, forestry, stockbreeding
and other industries.
