Recruiting Volunteers for International Exchange


 

Japanese Language Volunteers

Volunteers are recruited to teach Japanese, thereby helping to promote globalization in Kawagoe City and helping foreign residents in their daily lives.
The major services under this program are: (1) Japanese language instruction at the Kawagoe International Center; (2) Japanese language instruction at the request of Kawagoe City; and (3) other activities and services devoted to promoting globalization in the community.
In general, this program targets people 18 years old and older who live or commute to work or school in Kawagoe City, and are willing and able to provide Japanese language instruction on a voluntary (non-paid) basis.
“Kawagoe City Japanese Language Volunteer Registration Application” forms are available at the International Center. People interested in this program are encouraged to fill out and submit these forms. Re-registration is required e every two years.

Volunteer Interpreters and Translators

Interpreters and translators are recruited on a voluntary basis to help promote globalization in Kawagoe City, and to help foreign residents in their daily life.
The major services offered under this program are: (1) interpretation during consultation for foreign residents; (2) interpreting and translation during activities at the Kawagoe International Center; (3) interpreting and translation at the request of Kawagoe City; and (4) other activities and services devoted to promoting globalization in the community.
In general, this recruiting program targets people 18 years old and older who live or commute to work or to school in Kawagoe City, and are willing and able to interpret or translate from other languages into Japanese or from Japanese into other languages on a voluntary (non-paid) basis.

Homestay Registered Household System

This system depends on the spontaneous awareness and willingness of individual citizens to cooperate in goodwill programs and exchanges with Kawagoe’s sister-cities, which contributes to building an open and progressive community.
Activity requests are organized by the Kawagoe Sister Cities Committee, with the sites for homestays selected from the list of registered households. In general, all activities under this program are conducted on a voluntary basis, although participating households will be modestly compensated for their cooperation.
